American loses 111 pilots to retirement this month
More than 100 American Airlines pilots chose to retire Thursday, 10 times more than the usual monthly number, motivated by potential declines in the value of their retirement funds.
Pilot union officials expect the high rate of retirements to continue this fall, which could create operational problems for the carrier heading into the holiday travel season.
