With numbers now in from the seven largest U.S. carriers, we're left to wonder why Southwest Airlines showed the smallest increase in unit revenues among the four carriers who report those numbers.

Southwest said its passenger revenues per available seat mile (PRASM) was up about 1 percent. JetBlue Airways says its PRASM climbed 5 percent, US Airways put it at a plus 8 percent and United Continental straddled US Airways with a 7.5%-8.5% estimate.
