The AMR/Sterling Global/Allen Weintraub story is the type that gives reporters and editors ulcers.
It is undoubtedly true that someone who calls himself Allen Weintraub sent a letter from a company that he calls Sterling Global Holdings to AMR, parent of American Airlines, with an offer to buy all shares of AMR and take it private.
