Snap-on System Automatically Tracks Tools
10. february 2011 12:08 | TechnicalAviation International News
Tool manufacturer and distributor Snap-on Industrial has introduced the ATC 5 tool-control system, which combines software, a keyless entry system, foam-cut toolbox drawer liners and digital image capture devices inside the toolbox to help users keep track of tools. ATC 5 users first scan a proximity card on the keyless entry system to log in and open the toolbox.
After entering the work location into the system, the user removes the necessary tools, then returns the tools after finishing the job. Each time tools are removed or returned, the digital image capture system, which can "see" all of the toolbox's foam-lined drawers, verifies that no tools are missing and that the correct tools are placed in the foam liners.
