The Debate Over Where Air Marshals Should Sit

The comings and goings of federal air marshals are supposed to be invisible to travelers, but it doesn’t always work out that way. Many road warriors think they can pick out the clean-cut law enforcement types.


They often fly first class, airlines say. They typically board before regular first-class passengers and they can be seen entering secure areas through the exits so they don’t have to go through checkpoints with guns—two patterns that marshals themselves have publicly complained about.
