Farnborough Airshow
16. july 2010 19:07 | Businessby Barry Hudson
The Farnborough Air Show origins can be traced back to the annual RAF Air Show at Hendon, which began in 1920. The Air Show was first held in Farnborough in 1948 and since then it has become an increasingly important aviation event. In 1962, two changes were made; it was decided that the Air Show would be held biannually and that the Air Show would be international. Until 1962, there had only been British aircraft on display. The Air Show is currently held by Farnborough International ltd. which is a subsidiary of ADS, a trade organisation advancing UK AeroSpace, Defence and Security industries.
In 2004, the Farnborough Air Show was held under a civil regulation rather than military regulations. That year, the show had 243,000 spectators, 42 military delegates, and 1360 exhibitors. In 2006, the spectators increased to 263,000 with the highlight of the show being the display of then, the new Airbus A 380.
